BELT SYSTEM

learning something new is difficult enough

do not coach on the side

i need you to keep their spirits burning & i will show them how to use that energy through the process of learning jiu jitsu

HONOR THE PROCESS

YOU HAVE MY RESPECT FOR INVESTING IN YOUR KID AND SUPPORTING THEM ON THEIR JOURNEY

Parents, coaches, students…

We all want to see the fruit of our labor

the better you understand what is going on during training

the more effective you can be

The simple 4 part map of Jiu Jitsu

  1. Take your opponent down to the ground

  2. If you were taken down, you will need to defend (guard); the attacker will attempt to pass the guard by getting around the legs/hips

  3. If successful in passing, secure position OR as the defender- continue denying the pass or sweep (reversal)

  4. With the position secured begin to isolate a limb (head/arms/legs) and apply an attack to force submission

If caught in an attack and no escape is successful, the defender must TAP- signaling the exchange is over.

 BE SUPPORTIVE

USE YOUR LIFE EXPERIENCE TO KEEP THEIR SPIRITS UP

be curious

allow them to show you their enthusiasm and the new lessons they experience

Education

Empowerment

Evolution

Just be curious…

What was your favorite lesson?

What did you learn from that?

How did that happen?

What’s that move called?

Help me understand...

Can you show me?

create a fun family ritual

It can be something simple like rubbing a good luck charm before leaving to practice

HygIENE

 This is a long journey...

Similar to a fruit tree, it will

take time to establish roots,

develop fruit, and harvest the reward.

I ask for support and patience from you.

In time students will cultivate sharp technique

along with strong character traits and habits.

The juice is definitely worth the squeeze.
